July is one of the best months to be in Southern Maryland. This year it’s even bigger — the nation’s 250th anniversary is bringing extra celebrations to all three counties, and the usual summer lineup of baseball, waterfront fireworks, festivals, and farmers markets is running full speed. Here’s everything on the calendar for July 2026, including exciting things to do in southern maryland july 2026.

July 3–5 & July 14–19 — Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Home Games
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs host two home series in July at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf — Long Island July 3–5 and Charleston July 14–19. July 11 — Rise of the Vette Car Show
Phaze 2 Corvette Club brings their annual car show to Regency Furniture Stadium starting at 9am. Open to all cars, trucks, and bikes — a solid morning out if you’re into the car show scene.

Things to Do in Calvert County in July 2026

July 3 — Star Spangled Spectacular, Prince Frederick
Calvert County kicks off the July 4th weekend a day early with the Star Spangled Spectacular at the Calvert County Fairgrounds in Prince Frederick (4pm). Live entertainment, family activities, and fireworks. A good alternative if you want to avoid the Solomons crowds on the 4th.
July 4 — Solomons Island Independence Day Celebration
The Solomons Island July 4th celebration (4–10pm) is one of the biggest events in Southern Maryland this year. For the 250th anniversary, they’re launching a second fireworks barge — twice as many fireworks over the water. The day includes 30+ vendors, live entertainment, inflatables, food, and the fireworks finale. Arrive early — Solomons Island Road becomes a parking situation by late afternoon.
July 4–31 — Calvert 250 Art Show, Prince Frederick
The Calvert 250 Art Show runs all month at CalvART Gallery (110 Solomons Island Road N., Prince Frederick). Local artists celebrating Maryland’s role in the nation’s history. Free to browse and a good excuse to get into Prince Frederick.
July 11 — Sharkfest at Calvert Marine Museum
Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons runs Sharkfest on the second Saturday in July (10am–4pm). Live sharks on display indoors in the Harms Gallery, shark-themed crafts, interactive education stations, and hands-on activities. Kids love it. One of the museum’s most popular annual events.
July 24 — Warren Zeiders Concert at Calvert Marine Museum
Country artist Warren Zeiders performs at the Calvert Marine Museum waterfront on July 24. Tickets run $60–$110 all-in. It’s an outdoor waterfront show — the setting alone is worth it. Check the museum’s site for ticket availability.
July 31 — Family Fun Friday: Maryland Mammals
Calvert Marine Museum wraps July with a Family Fun Friday morning program (9–11am) covering Maryland’s native mammal species. Good for families with younger kids who want something educational and hands-on without a full-day commitment.
Things to Do in St. Mary’s County in July 2026
July 3 — St. Mary’s Freedom Fest, Leonardtown
Leonardtown Town Square hosts Freedom Fest on July 3 — the county’s main Independence Day event. Live music, local food, and fireworks over the square. Downtown Leonardtown is worth the trip on its own; this just gives you a reason to go on a Thursday night.
July 4 — USA 250th Celebration, Drayden
A community celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary in Drayden, part of the Maryland 250 statewide event series. A more local, community-scale event if you want something quieter than the big fireworks shows.
First Saturday Market Series — Leonardtown
The First Saturday Market runs monthly in Leonardtown Town Square with local produce, meats, cheeses, breads, fresh flowers, and crafters. It’s one of those recurring events that makes Leonardtown feel like a real town center. Check visitstmarysmd.com for July’s specific date and vendors.
July 25 — SMBC Boat Regatta, Leonardtown Wharf
The St. Mary’s Boat Club Regatta comes to Leonardtown Wharf on July 25 starting at 9am. If you’ve never been to the Wharf, it’s a genuinely beautiful spot on Breton Bay — the regatta gives you a reason to go on a Saturday morning.
July Library Outdoor Programs
St. Mary’s County Library is running outdoor programming at county parks throughout July: Lancaster Park in Lexington Park (July 13), Judge P.H. Dorsey Park in Leonardtown (July 20), and Chancellor’s Run Regional Park in Great Mills (July 27). Free, family-friendly, and a good low-key option for weekday mornings.
Coming Up in August
Already worth putting on the calendar: National Lighthouse Weekend at Piney Point Lighthouse Museum (August 8–9, 10am–5pm both days). Open house format with free access to the lighthouse and grounds on the Potomac River. One of those hidden-gem events that’s easy to miss if you don’t know about it.
Living in Southern Maryland
A July calendar like this — waterfront fireworks, minor league baseball, live music, boat regattas, farmers markets — is pretty much what it’s like to live here. People who move to Southern Maryland are often surprised by how much is going on between the three counties.
If you’re thinking about what it would actually be like to live here, I’m happy to talk through it. I’ve been working in Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s County for over a decade — I know these communities, not just the listings. Reach out anytime.
